La Digue is one of the most charming and picturesque islands in the Seychelles. Smaller and quieter than Mahé and Praslin, it offers visitors a glimpse of traditional island life where bicycles are the common form of transport.
The island is famous for its spectacular beaches, particularly Anse Source D’Argent, often considered one of the most photographed beaches in the world. Its smooth granite boulders, shallow turquoise lagoons, and powdery white sand create a landscape that seems almost unreal.
Life on La Digue moves at a gentle pace. Colourful Creole houses sit among coconut palms and tropical gardens, while narrow roads lead through vanilla plantations, small villages, and lush forests.
Nature lovers will enjoy exploring the island’s interior, including the Veuve Nature Reserve, which protects the rare Seychelles paradise flycatcher — known locally as the “Veuve.” Hiking trails also lead to quieter beaches such as Petite Anse, Anse Cocos and Anse Caiman, where powerful ocean waves meet untouched stretches of sand.
La Digue’s small guesthouses and boutique accommodations provide an intimate and authentic experience, allowing visitors to connect with the island’s warm Seychellois hospitality.
